Pet of the Month for April is Julio!
Julio came into see us for a health check as he was just coming out of hibernation. His owners had noticed that his right eyelids were very swollen. On inspection there appeared to be a laceration on his upper eyelid and discharge coming out of the eye. The vet was unable to open his eye to examine further because of the swelling, so Julio was sent home with a course of antibiotics and told to come back in one week to re-examine.
After limited improvement after a week Julio was admitted for surgery to have his eyelids lanced, thereby draining the pus.
Julio is still in the process of healing, but we’re expecting the eye will continue to improve with treatment. At least he can spot his favourite snacks again – dandelions!
